In 2020, our bureau accepted 10 applications for the protection of geographical indication products, approved the protection of 6 geographical indication products, approved 1052 enterprises using special geographical indication signs, and approved the registration of 765 geographical indication trademarks. By the end of 2020, 2391 geographical indication products have been approved, 9479 enterprises have been approved to use special signs, and 6085 geographical indication trademarks have been registered.

The State Intellectual Property Office conscientiously implemented the decision and deployment of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on Comprehensively Strengthening Intellectual Property Protection, promoted the unified identification of geographical indications in accordance with the administrative measures for the use of special geographical indications (Trial), focused on the "four strengthening" to carry out the protection of geographical indications and the supervision of the use of special geographical indications, constantly made new, practical and hard moves, and achieved phased results, Effectively improve the overall level of geographical indication protection.

First, strengthen top-level design, unify special signs, and effectively enhance the benefits of high-quality economic development with regional characteristics. In 2020, 1052 enterprises were newly approved to use special geographical indications, an increase of 195% over the same period of previous years. The producers of special geographical indications newly approved in the year achieved "three consecutive increases". According to the preliminary calculation, the direct output value of the main body of the market for the use of special geographical indications in 2020 will total 639.806 billion yuan.

Second, strengthen the system construction, improve the working mechanism, pay close attention to joint management, and strengthen the strict management of geographical indications. We will improve the policies, systems and standards for the protection of geographical indications, organize provinces (regions and cities) across the country to select nearly 10% of geographical indication products, carry out special quality supervision and random inspection, and deal with the infringement and counterfeiting of geographical indications according to law. Establish a dynamic management mechanism of "in and out", and cancel the use registration of special geographical indications of 201 market entities in four batches.

Third, strengthen mechanism innovation, deepen the reform of "decentralization, management and service", vigorously simplify administration and delegate power, and release the dividends of reform. Comprehensively use legal, administrative, economic, technological, social governance and other means to strengthen the collaborative supervision of enterprises using geographical indications and special signs. Carry out the pilot reform of the approval of the use of special geographical indications, strictly review the standards, optimize the review process, and reduce the approval time of the use of special geographical indications by more than half.

Fourth, strengthen policy guidance, give full play to their responsibilities and advantages, and support enterprises to fight the epidemic and return to work and production.
